The Rattling Wall Collective in Dutch was started in the fall of 1999,
practicing after hours in a small midwest college town record shop.
We wanted to make music, and we all had varied experiences in doing
just that. Somehow, something came up missing when working with other
people: it was as though some essential qualities that we liked about
music weren't there. So we tried to bring them back into the experience.
We needed to be good (maybe great), but not precious. Waiting for that
perfect gig or recording was just that: waiting, not playing. But that
didn't mean we couldn't be good (or great).
PLAY WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN, DO AS MANY SHOWS AS YOU CAN, RELEASE
AS MANY RECORDINGS AS YOU CAN.
It's like the mob: when you're in, you're in for life. If you play with
the collective, you're in the collective. But don't ask us for money.
